Our history begins in 1935, in Zakynthos, when George Vithoulkas works beside famous cabinetmakers and learns the art of furniture restoration which was widespread at that time because of the rich old mansions of the island. Famous cabinet-maker and specialised in furniture restoration opens his own shop in the town of Zakynthos when he also starts antique furniture trade. After the 1953 earthquakes the family moves to Athens and two years later he opens his new shop in Thiseio area. His name becomes known for the quality of restoration he offers and his collection of fine period antique furniture.
Great collectors and art-enthusiasts, such as Alexandros Iolas, Ioannis Tsarouxis, Melina Merkouri become regular visitors.
It is when his son Miltiades begins, with love and great interest, in dealing with antique furniture restoration and, at the same time, with model ship building and the art of marquetry making, creating fabulous wooden inlay tableaux with various themes. Over the years he develops the restoration art in an excellent level and quickly becomes worthy of his father. In 1985 he opens his own shop in Erechtheiou street, near Acropolis, where apart from antique furniture restoration, included exceptional work in various museums and in private collections, engages in buying and selling rare 18th &19th European and Greek furniture and works of art
Today, 80 years after, George Vithoulkas, as the third generation of this tradition, continues to preserve and enrich the antique furniture and works of art collection considering always the quality, rarity and high aesthetics, developing at the same time the Ionian tradition in antique furniture restoration.
